Roanoke Rapids has quite the culinary scene. You can find just about any type of cuisine in the city that you are hungry for. Make sure you check out the city’s specialties: steak, seafood, and barbecue.

Texas Steakhouse and Saloon is located at 1703 Julian R. Allsbrook Highway and is open on Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. This restaurant is a popular chain in the tri-state area. They serve both lunch and dinner and feature a menu based on Texas steakhouse cuisine. Choose from multiple USDA choice cuts of beef or chicken and have them chargrilled to perfection. The Saloon also offers Texas barbecue like ribs and brisket.

Texas Steakhouse has a special deal almost every day of the week. Monday has one of the best specials: $0.99 house margaritas. Be careful not to have too many at this price! Tuesdays and Thursdays are the days to go for beer lovers. You can get a craft beer pint for $3.99 or a large craft draft for $5.99. If wine is more your thing, don’t miss out on Wine Down Wednesday. Thursday features all-you-can-eat ribs for $15.99.

Mayflower Seafood Roanoke Rapids is located at 1330 Julian R. Allsbrook Highway. The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. At Mayflower, you can start your meal with a fried appetizer like fries, onion rings, or even a blooming onion. Don’t forget to try a bowl of their tasty oyster stew if you don’t want a fried starter.

Mayflower offers some sandwiches, most of which are seafood based. The broiled specials are the go-to menu items. Pick from one of two platters. The first one includes flounder, Alaskan white fish, oysters, jumbo shrimp, scallops, and deviled crab, while the second includes the flounder, baby shrimp, oysters, scallops, and stuffed deviled crab. The broils are served with a salad or coleslaw, and either baked potato, hush puppies, fries, or vegetables.

Ralph’s BBQ is located at 1400 Julian R. Allsbrook Highway and is open every day from 11 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. Ralph’s makes their barbecue fresh every day from high-quality USDA pork in the traditional North Carolina style. There are a variety of dinner options to choose from here. You can get pulled pork, chopped pork BBQ, pork ribs that are made in the St. Louis style, or fried or baked chicken.

Ralph’s even offers a combo plate where you can choose two or three of these options so you don’t miss out on anything. Most of these items can be made as a sandwich if that’s more your style.

If you can’t decide which restaurant to pick from the myriad of options in Roanoke Rapids, give one of these a try. Each of them offers a special taste of the region, and you won’t be disappointed.
