For power and performance that will dominate the road, consider investing in the 2018 Nissan Frontier. This workhorse of a truck has enough features to make it a versatile option for either work or play. Tote around tools and other cargo during the workday, and load up luggage and sporting equipment on your days off. Here are a few reasons to consider the Frontier for your next vehicle purchase.

Nissan realized that it could never create a single truck that meets all of its customers’ needs. That’s why the manufacturer has made the Frontier completely customizable. You can choose from a number of trims and cabs to meet your needs.

The first choice you’ll have is between a King Cab and a Crew Cab. If you’ll frequently be driving around passengers, opt for the Crew Cab, as it provides a seating capacity of five. The King Cab only has room for four passengers, but that’s because it dedicates more space to the bed, making the truck ideal for toting around larger cargo.

Once you’ve narrowed down your cab choice, you’ll need to select the trim that’s right for you. On the Crew Cab, you have the choice of S, SV V-6, Desert Runner, SL, Pro-4X, and Midnight Edition. The King Cab offers the S, SV 4-Cylinder, SV V-6, Desert Runner, and Pro-4X. Each trim comes with different features for different drivers, making it easy to find the right one for you.

You’ll need a powerful engine to haul around your gear, and the Frontier has you covered. There are two main engine options for the Frontier: a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine and a 4.0-liter V-6 engine. The four-cylinder engine puts out 152 horsepower and 171 pound-feet of torque, while the V-6 kicks things up a notch with 261 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque.

In the four-cylinder engine, you’ll have the choice of either a manual or automatic five-speed transmission. The V-6 engine is also a five-speed, but it only comes in automatic. However, you will be able to choose between 4×2 or 4×4 drive.

Whether you’re toting around tools or towing a boat, you’ll need your Frontier to keep up. Thanks to its superior payload and towing capacities, it should have no problem with your gear. In King Cab variants, the maximum payload is 1,430 pounds with the SV V-6 trim with the 4×2 drive. You’ll also be able to tow up to 6,710 pounds with the SV V-6 4×2 and Desert Runner trims.

When you choose the Crew Cab, you’ll get a slighter better payload of 1,460 pounds with the S 4×2, but the towing capacity drops a bit to 6,640 pounds on the SV 4×2 and Desert Runner. As for the other trims, they all see a slightly reduced (but still impressive) capacity.
